Our Story

The magic that happens when love guides the heart's intentions

Elissa Verdillo has been making chocolate for more than twenty years, learning her craft in Central America and southern Mexico — steeped in the traditions of the original chocolatiers, the Maya.

There she rediscovered one of their oldest combinations: cacao and honey. Long before cane sugar, the Maya sweetened sacred cacao with honey from the native stingless Melipona bee. Cacao Cocoon brings that ancient pairing back — with raw honey from the Big Island's queen beekeepers, ground Hawaiian vanilla bean, and a whisper of Kona sea salt.

"When my daughter Solstice was six months wise, her first word was 'cacao.' I knew then it was destined — we are all messengers, if we just listen closely."

Every batch is spun slowly in a 100% renewable-energy-powered chocolate kitchen in Kailua-Kona, then wrapped in fully compostable packaging. Give yourself the best — you deserve it — then give your best to the world.
